Job summary

Metlen is seeking a Site Mechanical Engineer to join the Grid & Digital Solutions department, EGL1 Project, based in Torness. The role will support construction execution, delivering in line with project objectives, safety standards, quality expectations, budget and schedule.

Key responsibilities include coordinating with Project Managers and subcontractors, inspecting works, resolving mechanical issues, collaborating with the design team in pre-construction, and maintaining site documentation

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• 2+ years of experience in mechanical erection works or maintenance, preferably in heavy industrial environments.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and civil construction drawings, procedures, and specifications.
• Fluency in English.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in multicultural project teams.

Responsibilities

• Supporting mechanical construction activities on site, ensuring alignment with project specifications, budget, and schedule.

• Performing regular inspections and quality checks to ensure works meet standards.

We are currently looking for a Site Mechanical Engineer to join the Grid & Digital Solutions department, as part of the Thermal Power & HVDC division of Metlen, for the EGL1 Project, based in Torness.

The role will support the construction execution of projects, contributing to delivery in line with project objectives, contractual requirements, safety standards, quality expectations, budget, and schedule.

Your responsibilities

• Supporting mechanical construction activities on site, ensuring alignment with project specifications, budget, and schedule.
• Coordinating with Project Managers, contractors, and subcontractors to support the planning and execution of mechanical installations.
• Performing regular inspections and quality checks to ensure works are carried out in line with project and industry standards.
• Identifying and supporting the resolution of mechanical issues arising during construction.
• Collaborating with the design team during the pre-construction phase, providing input on mechanical systems where required.
• Maintaining accurate documentation of mechanical works performed on site.
• Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and promoting a strong safety culture across site activities.

Required skills

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• 2+ years of experience in mechanical erection works or maintenance, preferably within heavy industrial environments such as power plants, refineries, CCGT, HVAC, or broader energy projects.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and civil construction drawings, procedures, and specifications.
• Fluency in English.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
