About the role

AAK is seeking to appoint a Site Mechanical Engineer to join the Hull Maintenance team, working Monday – Friday. This role involves supporting the maintenance team daily and providing engineering solutions for plant issues. The engineer will also be responsible for compliance related to ammonia systems, PSSR, PUWER, LOLER, and more. The role includes developing engineering standards in collaboration with the global team and supporting the site's reliability program.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring a safe working environment by applying safety policies and procedures.
  • Creating and implementing engineering standards aligned with national and international standards.
  • Coordinating OEM maintenance programs and improvement projects.
  • Supporting maintenance activities to reduce downtime and reactive repairs.
  • Managing compliance and statutory inspections, excluding electrical systems.
  • Coordinating scheduled maintenance with operations during shutdowns.
  • Managing relationships with external contractors.
  • Supporting inventory management of critical spares.
  • Scheduling and completing compliance inspections and actions.
  • Allocating costs according to financial standards.
  • Maintaining the mechanical integrity of ammonia systems and upgrading compressor rooms.

About you

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Time served HNC/HND in Engineering; a degree is desirable.
  • Knowledge of maintenance management and reliability principles.
  • Ability to develop engineering solutions for complex issues.
  • Understanding of current compliance regulations.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Proven leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize workloads.
