We are seeking a school Site Manager to join our new site at Croydon.
Main Job Purpose:
To carry out a full range of duties to maintain high standards of cleanliness, security, and maintenance of the school premises.
This role operates under the supervision of the Estates Manager, School Business Manager (SBM), and Headteacher.
Main Responsibilities:
- Serve as the main key holder responsible for the school's security.
- Lock and unlock school premises outside of normal hours and set security alarms, responding to alarms as per procedures.
- Perform and record checks on play equipment, legionella risk, alarm systems, ladders, and fire extinguishers, reporting issues promptly.
- Report building, furniture, or fitting deficiencies to the SBM and Headteacher and undertake remedial actions, including emergency repairs and obtaining contractor quotes.
- Carry out handyperson duties such as painting, decorating, small repairs, and fittings as directed.
- Escort contractors during repairs, monitoring safety and quality of work.
- Monitor and record usage of utilities like fuel, electricity, and water.
- Manage stores and equipment, ensuring their safe storage and distribution.
- Maintain the tidiness and safety of outside areas, including clearing drains and cleaning designated areas.
Health and Safety:
- Comply with Health and Safety at Work regulations.
- Ensure personal and others' safety, following 'lone working' guidelines.
- Assist the school in health and safety responsibilities, reporting hazards immediately.
- Perform duties in accordance with COSHH and health and safety regulations.
Resources:
- Operate manual and power tools for repairs, with training provided.
- Identify and acquire resources to improve school cleanliness and environment.
- Understand how to operate school alarm and CCTV systems, with training provided.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Willingness to undertake necessary training and attend meetings.
Supervision and Management:
- Work independently, especially during school holidays, following lone working guidelines.
- Supervise and oversee the work of cleaning staff.
Key Contacts and Relationships:
- Daily contact with the Headteacher or nominated staff.
- Build positive relationships with staff and respond to requests.
- Be flexible to work beyond scheduled hours for events, with appropriate compensation.
