Job Description:

The successful candidate will oversee our small site team with the installation and construction of the fish passes, eel passes, screens and habitat improvement works that we deliver.

Fishtek Ltd provides high quality civil engineering and fisheries consultancy services across the UK, Ireland, SE Asia, and West Africa. We are composed of a team of Civil, Structural and Mechanical Engineers, fisheries biologists and environmental scientists and site operatives engaging with a wider network of specialists across the river environment. We also have a small installations team who deliver the installation of our specialist fish and eel passage solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organisation of preliminaries before starting on site, including the preparation of site documents such as RAMS, COSHH forms and CPP, organisation of welfare facilities, liaison with the client and landowners regarding access
  • Liaison with the wider team on aspects such as the buildability and H&S aspects of projects and co-ordination between the site team and design team
  • Management of materials, stock and site tools, including management of a stock and tool list
  • Organisation and management of the site team during the installation and construction of projects
  • Assistance on site to install eel passes and fish passes. This would typically include the use of hand tools and where necessary small machines. Adequate training will be provided if required.
  • General client and stakeholder liaison

Person Specification

  • Relevant years experience preferably working in the water industry
  • First Aid training, CSCS card, CITB Site Safety + (or similar qualification), CIRIA, CITB or IEMA Construction Environmental Awareness and Current CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) or IOSH Safety, Health & Environment for Construction Site Managers
  • Experience preparing documents such as RAMS and CPP
  • Experience managing the construction of small to medium civil construction projects, ideally in the water environment
  • Experience delivering small to medium civil construction projects, including use of a wide-range of hand tools
  • Excellent inter-personal skills and effective ability to liaise with team-members, clients and external stakeholders
  • Reasonable computer literacy, including working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook
