Job Title: Site Manager (Main Contractor)

Duration of Job: 2 Years

Freelance Rate: 250 - 300 per day

Role Overview:

We are currently seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee decking contractors working on internal walkways within a multi-storey, live residential environment. This role requires someone with a strong track record of Health & Safety management in similar settings, as the works will be carried out while residents remain in occupancy.

You will be working closely with the Contracts Manager, Project Manager, Site Manager, QA Manager, and Resident Liaison Officer.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven main contracting experience in a live residential or occupied building environment
  • Demonstrable background in Health & Safety management
  • SMSTS
  • First Aid
  • Scaffold Inspection
  • CSCS Card
  • Fire Warden

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee decking contractors carrying out works on internal walkways within a live, multi-storey residential environment
  • Implement and enforce Health & Safety procedures to the highest standard, ensuring resident and workforce safety at all times
  • Coordinate daily site activities and manage workflows to meet programme timelines
  • Work closely with the Contracts Manager, Project Manager, QA Manager, Resident Liaison Officer, and other site staff to ensure smooth operations and communication
  • Manage access and logistics in a live environment with minimal disruption to residents
  • Conduct and maintain regular site inspections, including scaffold inspections, and keep all documentation up to date
  • Chair or attend daily site briefings and toolbox talks, promoting a strong safety-first culture
  • Ensure all contractors adhere to site-specific RAMS and safety protocols
  • Maintain high standards of quality control and ensure compliance with project specifications
  • Provide regular updates and reports to the wider project team and escalate any issues promptly
  • Support resident engagement via the Resident Liaison Officer to ensure clear communication and issue resolution.
