Job summary

Build Recruitment Limited is seeking a Freelance Site Manager to provide 2 weeks' holiday cover on a social housing project in St Austell. You will oversee day-to-day site operations, supervise subcontractors, and ensure safety and quality across the hull of works with residents and client liaison.

You must hold an SMSTS certificate and First Aid at Work, with strong health and safety knowledge, and a full UK driving licence preferred. Immediate start available on a reputable contractor.

Build Recruitment is working with a leading social housing contractor looking to appoint an experienced Freelance Site Manager to provide 2 weeks' holiday cover on a social housing project in the St Austell area.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for overseeing day-to-day site operations, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, and to a high standard while maintaining excellent relationships with subcontractors, residents, and the client.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily site activities during the holiday cover period.
• Supervise subcontractors and site teams.
• Ensure health & safety compliance across site.
• Carry out site inspections, toolbox talks, and daily reporting.
• Monitor programme, labour, and materials.
• Liaise with residents and client representatives to ensure smooth project delivery.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Site Manager, ideally within social housing, planned works, or refurbishment.
• Valid SMSTS certificate (essential).
• Valid First Aid at Work certificate (essential).
• Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation and site compliance.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Full UK driving licence preferred.
