Overview

The Anglian Water Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) project involves planning, design and construction of approximately 320 km of new strategic, large diameter, clean water interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure across Anglian Water's region. The SPA Alliance is also responsible for a future interconnector pipeline programme of a further 260 km of strategic interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure. This role involves site management of projects from inception to completion. It is a site-based role requiring regular communication with the delivery team based in the local office. Working with the Project Delivery Manager (PDM), the Site Manager will be responsible for day-to-day management of Supervisors, delivery teams and sub-contractors on site, ensuring the effective use of time and resources to meet budgets and delivery programmes. The Site Manager will implement and monitor health, safety, quality, environmental and performance standards and ensure work complies with water industry regulations and AW approved standards.

Responsibilities
  • Acts as an ambassador for the SPA Alliance and partner organisation by supporting, promoting and implementing all SPA initiatives for safety, environment, quality and well being.
  • Ensure both direct labour and sub contractor MS & RA are completed as site and task specific and approved by the Construction Manager ahead of works.
  • Complete Alliance development reviews and provide clear, achievable goals to members of the construction teams reporting to the site manager.
  • Ensure all initiatives are supported and implemented with minimal disruption.
  • Liaise with the Client's Operational staff to ensure Key Performance Parameters are met or exceeded.
  • Support preparation of supplier and/or sub-contractor estimates and quotations.
  • Able to deliver schemes in value from £200k up to £20m.
  • Input into works information with the commercial teams to ensure project scope is met in full or areas identified as requiring alternative contractor input.
  • Take an active role in transforming SPA by supporting and promoting new ways of working in construction project delivery and providing measurable evidence in safety, well being, quality and environmental areas.
  • Compliance with CPMS process
  • Compliance with BIM procedures including ensuring issues with design are raised.
  • Oversee the management of site based Supervisors, Delivery Teams and relevant areas of the supply chain.
  • Responsible for delivery of projects in line with tender allowances and agreed programmes of work, actively managing any slippage of programme or costs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
  • Knowledge and Experience in the water industry
  • Extensive experience in M&E/construction industry
  • Working in Confined Space (C&G) course completed
  • Commercial and Contractual understanding & awareness
  • Knowledge and experience of working to a budget and programme
  • Effective management of sub-contractors
  • Excellent customer relationship skills
  • Ability to influence customer decision making
  • Basic Management training, skills & experience
  • Good understanding of legislative and corporate SHEQ / Industry / Legal requirements
  • Basic IT abilities including MS programmes

  • Certified Fire Marshall
