Job summary

Skilled Careers is seeking an experienced Freelance Site Manager to join a traditional build residential development in Pulborough, West Sussex. The site requires a hands-on Number 1 Site Manager to own the build programme and drive standards from start to finish.

You will manage subcontractors, trades and site teams, ensure health and safety excellence, and maintain quality and programme controls. The contract is minimum 6 months with potential for permanent.

Freelance Site Manager - Traditional Build | Pulborough

Location: Pulborough, West Sussex

Rate: £280-£300 per day

Duration: 6 months minimum, with potential for a permanent position

We are looking for an experienced Freelance Site Manager to join a traditional build residential development in Pulborough. The site is currently at varying stages of completion, so we need a strong, hands‑on Site Manager who can take ownership of the build programme, drive standards and deliver a high-quality finished development.

This is a key site-based role and would suit an experienced Number 1 Site Manager who has successfully run a large PLC housebuilding scheme from start to finish.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Proven experience as a Number 1 Site Manager on large-scale PLC housebuilding developments.
• Strong traditional build experience.
• Experience managing sites through multiple stages of construction and completion.
• Ideally, previous experience working on PIJ schemes.
• A strong and demonstrable track record in Health & Safety - this is absolutely critical.
• Excellent management of subcontractors, trades and site teams.
• Strong programme, quality and delivery management skills.
• The confidence and ability to take full ownership of a site and drive it forward.
• A stable career history with a good track record of long-term assignments and successful developments.

• CSCS Black Card
• First Aid

We are looking for someone who is genuinely exceptional on site - commercially aware, highly organised, proactive and uncompromising when it comes to Health & Safety, quality and build standards.

£280-£300 per day, depending on experience.

The initial requirement is for a minimum of 6 months, with the potential for the role to become permanent for the right person.
