Job Specification: Site Manager

Location: Northwest

Employment Type: Permanent

Salary: £50,000 + package

Start Date: July / August 2025

Reporting To: Contracts Manager

Company Overview

Our client is a well-established principal contractor with a strong presence in the North West. They deliver a wide range of new build and refurbishment projects across the Healthcare, Education, Commercial, Industrial, and Heritage sectors. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Site Manager to join their expanding construction team.

Role Summary

As Site Manager, you will take responsibility for the safe, high-quality, and timely delivery of projects ranging from £1m to £8m in value. You'll be the No.1 on site, managing all site-based operations, ensuring effective coordination of trades, liaising with clients and consultants, and maintaining compliance with HSEQ standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Line management of on-site operational teams and subcontractors
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and members of the public
  • Oversee day-to-day site activities, ensuring programme and budget adherence
  • Manage site health, safety, environmental and quality matters, liaising with internal HSEQ teams
  • Chair regular site meetings and toolbox talks
  • Ensure accurate site records and compliance with internal procedures
  • Work closely with architects, engineers, and the commercial team to address site issues
  • Plan and programme works and manpower effectively
  • Conduct site inductions and ensure all staff are briefed on procedures and expectations
  • Support and implement disciplinary procedures where required

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience in delivering new build or refurbishment projects in one or more of the following sectors:
    • Healthcare
    • Education (Schools, Universities)
    • Commercial or Industrial
    • Listed Buildings / Heritage Works
  • Comfortable delivering projects valued from £1m to £8m+
  • Excellent leadership, organisation, and communication skills
  • IT literate (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)

Qualifications

  • CSCS Card (Black or equivalent)
  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)
  • First Aid at Work
  • Relevant construction qualifications (NVQ Level 6+, HNC/Degree in Construction or similar preferred)
