Job description

My client, a well-established Blue Chip Building Contractor, is seeking a Number 1 Manager to oversee a framework of refurbishment and new build projects ranging from £1 million to £5 million on NHS hospital and general healthcare projects. The Site Manager will be responsible for the successful delivery of these projects, requiring effective communication skills and the ability to lead a small team on a live site environment in collaboration with NHS staff.

My client already has 7 years of secured work in the local area. A current temporary works certification would be advantageous for this role. For the right candidate, there is an option to transition to a permanent position or maintain a long-term contract with CIS.

Requirements:

• Experience managing projects up to £5 million
• Main Contractor background
• Proven client-facing experience
• Project leadership skills and excellent soft skills
• Strong health and safety management and awareness
• Technical and financial acumen

Key responsibilities include programming work schedules, monitoring progress, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing site inductions, method statements, risk assessments, toolbox talks, and permits to work. Additional duties encompass logistics planning, resource management, and conducting progress meetings with the site team and subcontractors. Previous exposure to government-funded projects is preferred.

Essential certifications include a current CSCS card, ideally a Level 6 NVQ, SMSTS, and current first aid certification.
