About the Project:

Kier Construction has been appointed to deliver one of Scotland's largest construction projects. HMP Glasgow will provide a safe, secure, and energy-efficient custodial facility for 2000 inmates and staff, located northeast of Glasgow city. This £750 million project will replace Glasgow's aging Barlinnie prison with a modern, rehabilitation-focused facility, utilizing cutting-edge Modern Methods of Construction, making it a flagship project for the Scottish construction sector.

Location: HMP Glasgow, Royston, Glasgow

Hours: Full Time, Permanent

Role Overview:

The Site Manager will oversee the delivery of one of the five "houseblock" elements, comprising four stories of secure accommodation built using off-site manufactured modules. The Site Manager will ensure the safe on-site delivery of work, managing subcontractors, labor, plant, and materials, while adhering to strict health & safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and direct subcontractor partners to safely deliver work packages, including groundworks, drainage, structural frame erection, roofing, cladding, interior fit-out, and finishings under the guidance of the project manager.
• Assess work carried out by subcontractors to ensure it aligns with the project schedule, design drawings, and quality standards.
• Review risk assessments and method statements from subcontractors to confirm safe and appropriate working methods.
• Conduct toolbox talks and site inductions to ensure compliance with Kier standards.
• Coordinate site logistics, including movement of plant and labor, maintaining safety at all times.
• Report issues or delays to the site/project manager.
• Create, log, and file site reports and documentation accurately and promptly.
• Collaborate with the broader project team (PM, Designer, Engineer, etc.) to resolve on-site challenges.

Candidate Requirements:

• Experience working on large-scale building projects within a main contracting environment.
• Hold SMSTS, CSCS, and First Aid certificates.
• IT literate, capable of using relevant site software and tablets.
• Within daily commuting distance to Royston, Glasgow.
• Full UK Driving License.
