Site Manager (Commercial fitout)

Daniel Owen are recruiting a Site Manager (number 2) to join a leading fit out and refurbishment specialist. They company are known for delivering exceptional CAT A and CAT B commercial fit outs with precision, safety, and a passion for detail. They work in partnership with clients, consultants, and designers to create award-winning workplaces that reflect the culture, ambition, and operational needs of the businesses that occupy them.

Position: Site Manager (number 2)

Location: Cambridgeshire

Salary: .00 per day

Contract Type: Long term freelance with temp-perm possible if wanted

Start date: Immediately available

About the Role

We are looking to appoint a skilled and driven Site Manager (number 2) to assist the Project Manager with operational ownership of a CAT B commercial office fit out project. This will involve managing all on-site activities from pre-start to completion, ensuring delivery is to the highest standards of quality, health & safety, programme, and client satisfaction.

You will be responsible for leading a professional subcontractor team in a live commercial environment, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure all project elements are coordinated and delivered on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day running of the site, ensuring all works are delivered to programme and quality standards
  • Lead site inductions, toolbox talks, and enforce safe systems of work in line with HSE policies and CDM regulations
  • Coordinate and oversee all subcontractors and trades, ensuring work is sequenced and resourced effectively
  • Monitor and manage site logistics, waste, access, deliveries, and cleanliness on a live site
  • Ensure all temporary works, permits, RAMS and compliance documentation are in place and up to date
  • Maintain detailed site records, reports, and updates for the Project Manager and client
  • Take responsibility for achieving a high-end finish and defect-free handover
  • Foster a collaborative site culture, championing safety, respect, and team performance

About You

We are looking for a Site Manager (number 2) who thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates exceptional leadership, and holds a strong passion for delivering quality commercial interiors.

  • Proven experience as Site Manager on CAT B office fit outs in the 500k- 5m+ range
  • Track record of delivering high-spec finishes to tight programmes in city-centre or occupied buildings
  • Strong technical understanding of MEP coordination, partitions, ceilings, joinery, AV integration, and final presentation
  • SMSTS certification (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)
  • CSCS card (Black or Gold) and First Aid at Work certification
  • Proficient in project tracking tools and site reporting
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Skilled at managing subcontractors, resolving on-site issues, and maintaining client trust
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong communication skills
