Job summary

Rise Technical Recruitment Ltd is partnering with a Further Education college in High Wycombe to recruit a Site Maintenance & Safety Officer. The role offers a stable, long-term position with a 37-hour week and a salary of £27,345 plus local government pension and a strong benefits package.

You will perform day-to-day maintenance, safety compliance checks, CCTV monitoring and room-setups, while working with Estates and Reception teams to ensure a safe, welcoming campus for students and staff.

Qualifications

• Experience within caretaking, facilities, estates or building maintenance.
• Excellent practical DIY skills and a customer-focused approach.
• SIA Licence desirable or willingness to obtain one.
• First Aid qualification or willingness to undertake training.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Happy to work a rotating shift pattern, including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive building maintenance across the campus.
• Complete general DIY repairs including painting, basic plumbing, carpentry and maintenance tasks.
• Undertake routine health & safety and compliance checks.
• Monitor site security, CCTV and access control.
• Support reception duties, deliveries and room set-ups.
• Carry out building lock-up and unlock procedures.

Are you an experienced Caretaker, Facilities Assistant, Maintenance Operative or Site Officer looking for a varied role with excellent job security and work-life balance?

In this varied role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, security and smooth operation of the college campus. You'll carry out general building maintenance, complete planned and reactive repairs, undertake site safety and compliance checks, support room set‑ups, assist with deliveries and help ensure the campus remains safe, secure and welcoming for students, staff and visitors. You'll also work closely with the Reception and Estates teams, supporting site security, monitoring CCTV, carrying out building lock‑up and unlock procedures, and responding to out‑of‑hours call‑outs on a rota basis.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience within caretaking, facilities, estates or general building maintenance. You'll have excellent practical DIY skills, a strong customer‑focused approach and enjoy working as part of a team. An SIA Licence is desirable, although training can be provided for the right candidate.

The Role

• SIA Licence or willingness to obtain one
