Job summary

Bodycote plc in Coventry is seeking a hands-on Site Maintenance Engineer to ensure the reliability, safety and performance of a wide range of production equipment and site infrastructure. You'll diagnose faults, lead improvement initiatives, and coordinate contractors to maintain high availability.

Working closely with production teams, this role offers autonomy, a rotating shift pattern and meaningful opportunities to develop within a global engineering leader.

Qualifications

  • Electrical qualification with mechanical understanding.
  • Hands-on engineering and maintenance experience in industrial/manufacturing environments.
  • Strong fault finding and problem solving skills.
  • Experience coordinating contractors for engineering projects.
  • Proactive, self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and team-focused attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance on production equipment and site facilities.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults to minimise downtime.
  • Support site improvement projects, equipment upgrades, and installations.
  • Manage and coordinate external contractors when required.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and site performance.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and engineering excellence.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on, multi-skilled engineer to join our Coventry team in a role that offers variety, autonomy, and real responsibility.

As Site Maintenance Engineer, you'll be at the heart of our operation, ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of a wide range of specialist equipment and site infrastructure. No two days are the same. You'll tackle complex fault-finding challenges, lead improvement initiatives, support engineering projects, and play a key role in driving operational excellence.

You'll work closely with production teams, contractors, and fellow engineers to deliver planned and reactive maintenance while identifying opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and site performance.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, taking ownership, and seeing the direct impact of their work on a busy manufacturing environment.

What You'll Be Doing
