Job Description

Wood is recruiting for a HSE Advisor / Safety Coach to support a high-profile client across two key projects in the North East of Scotland. This role will be split between two sites in the North East, with occasional visits to the main Wood office in Aberdeen. The individual must be able to travel to sites in Peterhead and Angus, with occasional travel to other UK sites for audits or coverage. Applicants must pass HMG BPSS check.

The Role

Reporting to the HSE Lead, the HSE Advisor will provide timely advice on Health, Safety, and Environment matters, ensuring compliance with legislation, company policies, and client requirements. The role involves promoting a positive safety culture, working closely with site reps, and attending safety briefings to understand and mitigate risks. Ideal candidates have experience in site safety from construction or technical backgrounds and a proactive approach to safety management.

Responsibilities

• Participate in safety briefings and communicate HSE requirements
• Build relationships with client HSE reps and site safety reps
• Assist in incident investigations and audits
• Share lessons learned and report deficiencies
• Ensure emergency response plans are in place and communicated
• Attend HSE meetings and develop improvement plans
• Monitor HSE performance and promote workforce involvement

Qualifications

We welcome candidates with relevant technical or HSE qualifications, NEBOSH certificate, and experience in site safety, preferably in construction. Essential skills include strong communication, commitment to safety, and organizational skills. Desirable qualifications include NVQ Level 4 IOSH.
