Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is recruiting a Site Health & Safety Advisor to provide project and site-level guidance on health, safety and environmental policies across Birmingham and Glasgow projects.

You will support development of management plans, monitor risk registers and KPI data, and lead on safety by design with design teams. Requires NEBOSH, degree and construction HSE experience, plus a full driving licence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree and 3 years experience in a construction environment, including strong knowledge of electricity networks construction, HSE and IOSH Standards.
• Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
• NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety
• A minimum of three (3) years experience in a construction environment, including strong knowledge of electricity networks construction, HSE and IOSH Standards.
• Full driving licence
• Working Knowledge of Electricity in Construction (Cabling, Transmission, sub stations)
• Data analysis & risk assessment
• Strong organisational skills
• Good working knowledge of CDM Regulations
• Understanding of Incident Investigation Techniques
• NEBOSH Diploma
• Chartered or working towards chartership of a relevant professional Institution (e.g. IOSH)
• National Grid Person Training

Responsibilities

• Provide project and site-level advice on the practical implementation of health, safety and environmental policies.
• Develop project Health & Safety Management plans and arrangements and review to drive continual improvement.
• Monitor project risk registers to ensure design and construction risks are captured, managed and mitigated.
• Coordinate within the operational team to meet Safety Action Plan requirements.
• Provide project and site management with advice on prevention of incidents.
• Lead on data collation for safety, health, environmental KPI’s and plan to meet targets.
• Support safety by design concepts with construction and engineering design teams.
• Develop and monitor conformance with the Safety, Health and Environmental Management System.
