Job summary

British Steel currently invites applications for a Health & Safety Facilitator at Scunthorpe. The role focuses on supporting line management to develop, implement and monitor the site’s HSE enhancement strategy in a visible, site-based role.

The ideal candidate will bring operational experience, strong communication and a NEBOSH certificate, with a drive for continuous improvement. The role entails delivering training, auditing and a proactive approach to safety while working across functions to

Qualifications

• Experience in plant operations or willingness to acquire knowledge of processes and equipment.
• NEBOSH General Certificate advantageous.
• Excellent communication, organisational, IT and instructional capabilities.
• Ability to analyse diverse data sources and influence stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support the development of a Health & Safety programme across functions to integrate safety philosophies.
• Establish systems to monitor progress at team and plant level for validated improvement.
• Define with the Plant Manager responsibilities for continuous improvement activities in Health & Safety.
• Analyse Near Misses, CARE Observations, hazard reports and injuries; present findings with recommendations.
• Promote local targets and strategies to improve Health & Safety effectiveness across the organisation.
• Identify required resources with the Plant Manager to support safety improvements and budgets.
• Promote development of individual capability to identify, assess, and control risks.
• Support the Plant Manager in coordinating and delivering Health & Safety training.
• Organise document control and record retention to demonstrate compliance.
