Job summary

Referment is working with a leading specialist contractor to appoint a Health & Safety Advisor for major construction projects across the Oxford and Reading area. This is a fully site-based role for an experienced professional who communicates clearly with operational teams to uphold high safety standards on complex construction sites.

You will provide practical guidance, carry out inspections, investigate incidents and ensure health and safety requirements are understood and consistently

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of experience in a health & safety role within a construction environment.
• Experience within civil engineering, reinforced concrete, infrastructure or structural construction is valuable.
• A recognised health and safety qualification (ideally NEBOSH Construction).
• Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and construction industry requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day health and safety guidance to site and project teams.
• Carry out regular site inspections, audits and compliance reviews.
• Support the development and implementation of project-specific health and safety plans.
• Review risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
• Investigate incidents, near misses and unsafe practices, identifying appropriate corrective actions.
• Deliver briefings and support workforce engagement on health and safety matters.
• Monitor subcontractor compliance and promote high safety standards across the project.
• Produce clear reports and contribute to ongoing improvements in health and safety performance.
