Site and Ground Investigation Project Manager

An opportunity to join an established consultancy firm specializing in rail infrastructure, safety, and engineering services across the UK. The company is known for its expertise in various aspects of railway infrastructure, including site investigations, civil engineering, rail training, compliance, and track security.

The key responsibilities for this Site and Ground Investigation Project Manager role are:

  • Manage geotechnical and structural investigation works on-site and ensure all deliverables meet project requirements.
  • Take full ownership of the site work and ensure successful delivery of associated project deliverables.
  • Maintain open communication with clients, ensuring consistent client care and addressing project-related issues proactively.
  • Prepare quotations, costings, and service proposals for clients, aligning with project scope and requirements.
  • Provide financial and programme performance data to the Principal Project Manager, ensuring all projects stay within budget and meet deadlines.
  • Perform site audits to monitor quality standards and ensure all services are provided in accordance with regulations.
  • Carry out Safety Critical duties in line with required competencies and certifications.
  • Allocate and report on weekly resources, delivery constraints and financial performance.
  • Ensure the team is delivering against client and contractual demands within the team.
  • Take on additional tasks as required by the project or company.

Experience required for this Site and Ground Investigation Project Manager role are:

  • Demonstrable experience in supervising and managing ground investigation works, with a strong technical understanding of geotechnical and structural investigations.
  • Based in Nottingham or York, with occasional travel required to the other location.
  • A valid UK manual driving licence.
  • Previous experience in a project management role within the geotechnical sector, or a strong desire to step up into this type of leadership role.
  • Relevant safety-critical certifications, such as IOSH Managing Safely.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with strong computer literacy.
  • Previous experience working within the Rail sector is desirable but not essential.
