Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is expanding our Derby team and seeks an experienced Site Foreman to lead construction activities on a major project in partnership with Rolls-Royce. You will supervise site operations, coordinate labour and subcontractors, and ensure safety, quality and timely delivery on a hands-on site.

You will read drawings, follow RAMS and site procedures, and maintain high standards. Strong communication and leadership are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Experience as Foreman or General Foreman on major construction or civil project.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong knowledge of health, safety, quality and environmental requirements.
• SSSTS/SMSTS qualifications are advantageous.

About the role

Balfour Beatty is growing our team in Derby and we’re looking for an experienced Site Foreman to join us on our major expansion project in partnership with Rolls-Royce.

This is a significant programme of works involving the expansion and development of a major operational site. You’ll play a key role in the safe and efficient delivery of construction activities, working closely with Site Managers, Engineers, subcontractors and the wider project team to ensure works are delivered to the required standards.

As a Foreman, you’ll be responsible for coordinating site activities and supervising our workforce and subcontractors on a day-to-day basis. This is a hands-on role where your leadership, organisation and ability to maintain high standards will be essential to successful project delivery.

What you'll be doing

As a Site Foreman you will:

• Supervising and coordinating site activities in accordance with the construction programme.
• Managing and directing site operatives and subcontractors.
• Ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
• Working closely with the Site Manager and wider delivery team to plan and coordinate daily activities.
• Monitoring progress and identifying any issues that could impact programme or productivity.
• Ensuring all works are undertaken in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and RAMS.
• Conducting daily briefings and ensuring the workforce understands planned activities and site requirements.

Who we're looking for

You will have the following:

• Previous experience working as a Foreman or General Foreman on a major construction or civil engineering project.
• Strong knowledge of construction activities, site supervision and safe systems of work.
• Experience supervising direct labour and subcontractors.
• The ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Good understanding of health, safety, quality and environmental requirements.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• A proactive approach to problem solving and project delivery.
• Relevant site-based qualifications, such as SSSTS/SMSTS, would be advantageous.
• A relevant trade or construction background is desirable.
