Job summary

James Walker in Cockermouth seeks a Site Engineering Manager to lead the engineering and maintenance functions across the site, ensuring safe, reliable operation of manufacturing equipment, plant, utilities and infrastructure.

You will develop the engineering team, deliver maintenance strategies, improve equipment reliability and manage projects and budgets, with strong emphasis on safety, compliance and cross-functional collaboration with production and quality teams.

Qualifications

• Proven engineering leadership experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Electrical engineering background strongly preferred, though multidisciplinary candidates with leadership capability will be considered.
• Experience with health and safety training such as IOSH/NEBOSH is valued.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop the site engineering and maintenance team.
• Establish objectives, responsibilities and performance expectations.
• Develop proactive safety-focused engineering culture and succession plans.
• Oversee maintenance planning, upgrades and contractor activities.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and engineering standards.

Education

HND in Engineering

Electrical engineering qualification or substantial industrial electrical maintenance experience

Recognised project management or engineering management qualification

IOSH Managing Safely, NEBOSH or equivalent health and safety training

Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
