Wood Transmission & Distribution Ltd UK is seeking a Site Engineer to join our growing business! Our Site Engineers play a crucial role in our construction team, guiding crew members, ensuring site safety, negotiating with suppliers, and providing valuable feedback. They are the cornerstone of project success, serving as the primary advisors and facilitators to ensure seamless project execution. As a new team member, you will have the opportunity to add value to our construction & commissioning site management team to liaise with foremen, line workers and subcontractors onsite in line with our program to support a growing workload across overhead lines (OHL) and underground cables (UGC); and to contribute to the increased network capacity required to deliver the UK government's pathway to 2030 and the transition to net zero. You will establish the level and survey control for the contracts and set out detailed works as per contract drawings and liaison with our design team, ensuring stringent checks are made on a regular basis.

This role is perfect for someone looking for a sideways move or their next step as a Site Engineer. We welcome applications from both established site engineers and first appointment site engineers from a linesman background within transmission and distribution, construction or rail. This role is site based and you will be initially working in the Highlands and Islands/ Argyll and Bute/ Aberdeenshire areas with our client SSE; however, thereafter you will need to be flexible in your work location across both Scotland and Northern England.   • Recognized qualification or equivalent industry experience.
  • Possess a recognized Safetyqualification, such asInstitute of Occupational Safety & Health) IOSH orNational Examination Board in Occupational Safety & Health (NEBOSH).
  • Previous knowledge of setting out on civil engineering.
  • Good knowledge of construction methods,health safety security & environment (HSSE),and legal regulations.
  • Fully conversant with the use of total station & EDM instruments.
  • Previous experience in working with and managingsub-contractors and recording of measurementdetails.
  • Experience in the supervision of all technical aspects of line construction in a siteenvironment.
  • Experience of various types of foundation construction utilised in transmission projects andshould be conversant with setting out instruments andtechnique.
  • Experience & knowledge ofsoftware such asAutoCAD, LSS & MS Office.
  • Must be willing to work away from home for prolonged periods oftime.
