Site Engineer – nights

Job Introduction:

SCS Railways are looking for a site engineer working weekday night shifts (Monday night to Friday night) for the reinforced concrete works at West Ruislip Portal.

Location: West Ruislip Portal Site, Ickenham High Rd, London HA47DQ

Role Responsibilities:

  1. Site Engineer for the night shift FRC works at West Ruislip Portal.
  2. Understanding and interpreting structural and reinforcement drawings to accurately translate them into physical markers on-site.
  3. Defining and marking out boundaries, grids, levels, and other critical elements of the construction site.
  4. Ensuring all measurements are precise and align with project plans, which is vital for maintaining structural integrity and avoiding costly errors.
  5. Coordinating with other engineers, management team, and construction teams to ensure smooth execution of setting out processes.
  6. Keeping detailed records of measurements and adjustments made during the setting out process for future reference and quality assurance.
  7. Ensuring all quality checks are carried out in accordance with the ITPs and properly recorded.
  8. Setting out with Total Station.
  9. The management of non-conformance reporting and managing the nonconformances on site until complete.
  10. Drawing take-off for timely material ordering and delivery.
  11. Monitoring rebar and formwork installation in accordance with permanent design, Temp works designs, and ITP.
  12. Reviewing rebar and formwork drawings. Ensure an understanding of the scope so you can identify changes.
  13. Produce as-built records, fill in ITP check sheets, and other required construction assurance documentation.
  14. Deliver start of shift briefings, inductions, and toolbox talks.
  15. Keep a full and accurate daily site diary, including any delays, changes/variations, subcontractors’ attendance, and records of work-related discussions with client/designer/RE/project team.
  16. Adherence to project policies and procedures.
  17. Method Statements, Inspection and Test Plans, Permits, Consents, etc., for the works and ensuring these are implemented.

Health, Safety & Environment:

  1. Ensuring health and safety is given the highest priority in the delivery of the works.
  2. Be familiar with and demonstrate commitment to the requirements of the Health & Safety and Environmental Policies.
  3. Ensure that the Health, Safety, and Environmental Policies and Procedures are effectively communicated to the workforce and implemented.
  4. Work collaboratively with the High Speed 2 team and other contractors, subcontractors work packages to achieve the overall project goals.

The Ideal Candidate:

  1. Degree level qualification in a Civil Engineering allied subject or HND/HNC in Civil Engineering and vocational training in Engineering.
  2. Understanding of Engineering Principles.
  3. Technical knowledge of construction/RC works.
  4. Computer competence (MS Word, Excel, Document Control Systems).
  5. Relevant CSCS Card.
  6. Training in Health & Safety and Environmental management (SMSTS).
  7. Presentation Skills Training (inductions / briefings etc.).
  8. Experience with formwork reinforced concrete works.

Desirable:

  1. Proficient in AutoCAD.
  2. TWS/TWC.
