Carmichael UK is seeking an experienced Night Shift Site Engineer to support the delivery of Technology, Street Lighting, and Traffic Signal works on a Tier 1 highways project in South West London.

This is a great opportunity for an engineer with strong setting out skills and a solid understanding of highways technology to take ownership of night-time operations.

Role Overview:

You will be responsible for ensuring accurate setting out, managing permits, and reporting on the nightly progress of key installation and cabling works.

Key Responsibilities:

• Setting out for street lighting columns, ducting, traffic signal bases, and cabling runs

• Creating, managing, and briefing permits to dig (PTDs) and work packs

• Monitoring site activities for compliance with design, safety, and quality standards

• Completing daily progress reports and feeding back to the day team

• Liaising with supervisors and subcontractors to ensure efficient, safe delivery

• Ensuring all works are carried out under relevant health, safety, and environmental procedures

Requirements:

• Experience in street lighting, traffic signals, or highways technology installation

• Proficient in setting out using GPS and total station

• CSCS card essential; SSSTS or SMSTS beneficial

• Good understanding of permits to dig and safety documentation

• Comfortable working independently during night shifts
