Site Engineer - Mechanical

Job Description

The role involves ensuring all environmental conditions are maintained, carrying out Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM), reactive, and breakdown works on all M&E systems within the site. Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of Air Conditioning, UPS, Generators, LV systems, and fault-finding skills using graphical information and alarm data.

Key Responsibilities

1. Carry out routine PPM on all mechanical & electrical plant in accordance with site schedules and asset lists.
2. Complete reactive tasks promptly and proactively identify areas for improvement, including stores and fabric-related issues.
3. Manage subcontractors to ensure contract requirements are met, including approvals and safe operation.
4. Operate a Permit to Work System in line with BGIS Quality, Health & Safety procedures and client requirements.
5. Quickly remedy plant faults and defects to keep systems operational.
6. Maintain availability of suitable spares, providing parts lists and time estimates for remedial works.
7. Complete all paperwork related to reactive and breakdown works promptly and accurately.
8. Prepare and utilize Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all tasks to ensure safety.
9. Develop good working relationships with BGIS staff, subcontractors, and client representatives.
10. Maintain a safe and healthy working environment, including wearing PPE and uniforms.
11. Present a professional image of BGIS to clients.
12. Ensure plant rooms are locked, clean, and tidy.
13. Supervise and monitor subcontractor work on site.
14. Complete assigned tasks appropriately and safely.
15. Adhere to H&S policies and contractual KPIs/SLA’s.
16. Keep the Maximo CMMS system updated, closing tickets with accurate data.
17. Operate the Permit to Work System as per procedures.
18. Perform any other tasks assigned by site management.
19. Ensure site reports, risk assessments, and activity records are maintained and non-compliance escalated.
20. Proactively check the operation of the LOTO system.
21. Monitor building environmental conditions via the BMS system to maintain acceptable internal conditions.
