Job summary

Careys is seeking a Site Engineer to join our Engineering team in Cumbria. You will play a key role delivering safe, high-quality civil works on site, carrying out setting out, checking tolerances and supporting RFIs.

You will work closely with Site Managers to plan works and provide accurate construction information. With 4+ years on major civil projects and an HNC or above in Civil/Structural Engineering, you will drive quality, safety and collaboration with subcontractors while mentoring

Qualifications

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential.
• Ability to interpret drawings and specifications.
• Confident surveying and setting-out skills.
• Experience with AutoCAD/BricsCAD and digital delivery on site.

Responsibilities

• Carry out accurate setting out using surveying equipment.
• Check levels, dimensions and tolerances for accuracy.
• Support Senior Engineer with RFIs and technical queries.
• Review drawings to ensure work is buildable and compliant.
• Plan and sequence works with Site Managers and Supervisors.
• Provide construction information, including sketches and mark-ups.
• Monitor progress and assist with short-term planning.
• Maintain as-built records and support digital deliverables.
• Prepare inspection and test plans and quality checks on site.
• Identify issues early and support non-conformances resolution.
• Carry out material checks and assist with take-offs of drainage, reinforcement, etc.
• Complete temporary works inspections and support simple designs.
• Supervise Apprentices and Graduates; collaborate with subcontractors.
