Carmichael UK is recruiting a Site Engineer / Engineering Surveyor to support our client on the Reactor Height Reduction Project at the Nuclear Restoration Services Trawsfynydd site in North Wales.
This 3.5-year project involves the partial demolition of the reactor buildings to reduce their overall height and ongoing asset management liability. It will also include an extensive programme of new-build and remedial civil engineering works to improve the durability of the retained structures.
This is a first-of-its-kind project within the UK nuclear sector. The successful candidate will provide surveying, dimensional control and structural verification support during complex demolition and deconstruction activities.
The role will involve monitoring the integrity, alignment, movement and stability of structural elements before, during and after cutting, lifting and removal operations.
You will be a technically capable Site Engineer or Engineering Surveyor with strong experience in structural monitoring and dimensional control. You must be comfortable working within a safety-critical environment and collaborating with demolition, lifting, temporary works and design teams.
Previous experience within the nuclear sector would be beneficial, although candidates from complex demolition, heavy civil engineering, structural remediation or similarly regulated environments will also be considered.
