Site Engineer
Location:Plymouth, Devon
Pay: £30 per hour, plus £100 per week travelplus £50.65 per night lodge
Experience:Dockyard Experience would be beneficial, PIling or Geotechnical experience would be advantageous but is not essential

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Site Engineer with a background in civil or geotechnical engineering to join our team on a major dockyard infrastructure project. This is a hands-on role involving the delivery of complex marine works including quay walls, foundations, and associated civil structures in a challenging tidal environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support and supervise ground investigations, earthworks, and ground improvement activities.

  • Oversee construction of marine foundations, retaining walls, and concrete structures.

  • Monitor geotechnical instrumentation and interpret ground performance data.

  • Ensure all works comply with safety standards, design specifications, and environmental controls.

  • Assist in developing method statements and construction sequences with geotechnical input.

  • Liaise with project managers, consultants, and specialist contractors on site.

  • Maintain accurate site records, test logs, and progress reports.

Requirements:
  • Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (or related discipline).

  • Site-based experience in marine, infrastructure, or heavy civil engineering projects.

  • Strong knowledge of geotechnical principles and groundworks.

  • Familiarity with tidal and marine construction environments.

  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.

  • CSCS card and relevant health & safety certifications (e.g. SSSTS, SMSTS) preferred.
