Reports To: Section Engineer / Sub-Agent / Site Manager
Purpose of the Role
The Site Engineer is responsible for providing on-site technical and engineering support to ensure the safe, high-quality, and timely delivery of construction activities. The role is primarily focused on civil engineering and infrastructure works within a constrained urban environment. The Site Engineer will play a key role in planning, setting out works, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct engineering surveys and setting out for construction activities such as drainage, utilities, and reinforced concrete structures.
Manage and ensure compliance with Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), method statements, and relevant quality standards.
Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to deliver works in line with the project programme.
Promote and ensure adherence to CDM and H&S regulations, including delivery of daily briefings and toolbox talks.
Assist with temporary works coordination and permitting processes (e.g. Permit to Dig), and ensure risk assessments are in place.
Maintain accurate site records including daily diaries, progress reports, and non-conformance documentation.
Support the planning team by contributing to short-term and 4-week lookahead programmes.
Collaborate with the Environmental team to ensure compliance and support implementation of mitigation measures.
Provide assistance to commercial and procurement teams with measurements and material take-offs.

Education
BEng / MEng / HNC / HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
Certifications
CSCS Card (required); SMSTS or SSSTS (desirable); Temporary Works (preferred)
Experience
2+ years’ experience in site engineering within infrastructure or civil works; experience in urban, rail, or utilities sectors is desirable
Software Skills
Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Project or Primavera, MS Office Suite; use of surveying equipment
Technical Knowledge
Strong understanding of setting out, concrete works, utilities, drainage, H&S standards, and QA/QC procedures
