About the Company:

This organisation delivers low-carbon energy solutions to industrial and commercial sites across the UK. They design, build, operate, and maintain sustainable heat and power systems, with a strong focus on reliability, safety, and environmental performance.

With a growing portfolio of biomass and electric heat systems, they invest in continuous improvement and value hands-on engineering expertise. The team is collaborative, safety-driven, and committed to helping clients decarbonise their operations.

They’re now looking for a Mechanical Site Engineer to support operations at a key industrial site in Suffolk.

About the Role:

As the Mechanical Site Engineer, you’ll carry out mechanical maintenance, fault-finding, and repairs on biomass and electric boiler systems. You’ll also support fuel supply operations, assist with subcontractor management, and help maintain high HSEQ standards.

The role involves a mix of planned and reactive work, both on-site and as part of an on-call rota. It’s well-suited to a mechanically biased engineer with experience in heating systems and a proactive, hands-on approach.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform mechanical repairs and maintenance on biomass and electric heating systems.
  • Conduct inspections, system checks, testing, and record keeping in line with compliance standards.
  • Support the continuous and efficient operation of boilers, pumps, valves, and hydraulic systems.
  • Respond to system failures, service outages, or emergencies as part of an on-call rota.
  • Manage biomass fuel supply on site, including receiving deliveries, testing, and loading using a Telehandler.
  • Assist with on-site subcontractor coordination and permit-to-work processes.
  • Promote and maintain high health, safety, environmental and quality (HSEQ) standards.
  • Maintain accurate electronic records for all maintenance, HSEQ, and stock activity.
  • Support client liaison and build collaborative working relationships with on-site teams.

What are we looking for?

  • Mechanical or electrical engineering qualification (e.g. C&G, NVQ, HNC).
  • HSEQ site-level training (e.g. CSCS, Safety Passport).
  • Experience with biomass, LTHW, MTHW, and/or HTHW systems.
  • Strong mechanical engineering background, ideally with electrical familiarity.
  • Experience working with heat-generating equipment on large industrial sites.
  • Effective communicator with strong attention to detail and safety-first mindset.
  • Flexibility to work on a shift rota and be part of an on-call support system.
  • Knowledge of biomass boilers and fuel handling.
  • Familiarity with DCS/BMS controls and CMMS systems.
  • Experience overseeing subcontractors and safe systems of work.

Salary & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary of up to £46,000
  • Permanent position with stability and training opportunities
  • Overtime and callout pay enhancements
