Job description

Overview: We are looking for a highly skilled Site Engineer or Senior Site Engineer with a robust background in managing projects for Scottish Power Energy Networks (SPEN). This role is situated in a busy and fast-paced project and maintenance environment where you will oversee a variety of multi-disciplinary civil engineering/electrical projects.

The wider regional team is also responsible for delivering infrastructure projects and maintenance works for a diverse portfolio of clients including Local Authorities, Network Rail, and Environmental Agencies.

The Role: As a Site/Senior Site Engineer, you will be an integral member of the Operational team, tasked with the delivery of SPEN infrastructure projects throughout Scotland. Your reporting line will be to the Project Manager/Site Agents, and your responsibilities will include:

  1. Ensuring safety, health, environmental, and quality standards for all site activities
  2. Reviewing and interpreting project drawings and specifications for site-based work
  3. Setting out and surveying works on site
  4. Maintaining high professional standards in site engineering
  5. Supervising site activities, including labour, plant, and subcontractors
  6. Keeping comprehensive and accurate records, including site diaries
  7. Managing materials take-off and ordering
  8. Planning daily and weekly site works and assisting in risk assessments and work package documentation
  9. Overseeing sub-contractors and site engineers

Requirements: To succeed in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:

Qualifications:

  1. Degree / HNC / HND in Civil Engineering

Experience:

  1. Previous experience working in a substation environment and will carry the necessary competencies in line with safety rules 5th edition
  2. Proven setting out experience with a strong understanding of surveying
  3. Ability to interpret contract drawings and specifications accurately
  4. Responsible for dimensional control on site
  5. Supervisory experience over labour, plant, materials, and sub-contractors
  6. Proficient record-keeping skills for progress and quality control
  7. Experience in planning weekly site works including documentation such as Inspection Test Plans and Work Package Plans
