Job summary

Galliford Try is seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join the Environment Business, delivering on Scottish Water Frameworks in our JV, ESD. You will oversee day-to-day site operations, coordinate activities, and ensure safety, quality and schedule adherence on projects such as Black Esk Water Treatment in Lockerbie and beyond.

You will hold an HND or equivalent, have construction/engineering experience (water sector ideal), and possess IOSH/SMSTS, CSCS and strong IT and communication skills

Qualifications

  • HND or equivalent in engineering or project management qualification.
  • Experience in construction/engineering, ideally in the water industry.
  • IOSH or SMSTS safety management; CSCS Card; excellent IT and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Promote exceptional safety and deliver quality standards at all times.
  • Coordinate and control construction activities ensuring the project runs to schedule and budget.
  • Day to day management of site activities, supervise and monitor site operations and carry out briefings; prepare RAMS and ensure compliance.
  • Ensure plant and materials are ordered and supplied as required.
  • Check drawings and quantities, ensuring information is accurate for the work.
  • Maintain good client relationships at all levels.
  • Comply with Customer Impact Plan at all times.
  • Maintain and enhance ESD’s reputation at all levels.
  • Ensure that the BMS is implemented at all stages.
  • Plan, organise and monitor activities to meet safety, time and quality requirements.
  • Report and resolve site non-conformities.
  • Manage cost aspects proactively with controls in place.
  • Undertake other duties and hours of work as required.
  • Take steps to ensure confidentiality.

Site Engineer - ESD
Location - Lockerbie

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Site Engineer to join Galliford Try’s Environment Business, working on our Scottish Water Frameworks in our Joint Venture, ESD. The Site Engineer will work initially on the Black Esk Water Treatment project with Scottish Water in the Lockerbie area and other locations across the Scottish Borders.

What you will be doing:
  • Promote exceptional safety and deliver quality standards at all time
  • Co-ordinate and control construction activities ensuring the project runs to schedule and budget

  • Checking drawings and quantities, ensuring that the information is accurate for the work

  • Ensuring that activities are planned, organised and monitored to ensure safety, time constraints and quality requirements are met.

  • Ensure all cost aspects are managed proactively and controls are in place
  • Undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this role
  • Take all reasonable steps to ensure appropriate confidentiality.
About You:
  • HND or equivalent in engineering/project management related qualification
  • Experience of the construction/engineering industry, ideally in the water industry
  • Track record of delivering within agreed parameters
  • IOSH or SMSTS Safety Management
  • CSCS Card
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills
