Job description

We are now looking for a Site Development Manager to join Wärtsilä Defence Solutions Limited (WDSL) on a permanent basis, accountable for our site development & investment strategy. You will lead these aspects of the company in Havant, reporting to the Head of Projects but also working closely with other stakeholders in the Shaft Line Solutions (SLS) business unit. This role will be a key contributor to the delivery of the company strategy regarding investment and to achieve or growth targets. The successful applicant will need to challenge assumptions and decision-making as appropriate and provide guidance on all activities, plans, targets, and business drivers related to site development and investment. You will need to establish a high level of credibility, creating strong working relationships with internal & external stakeholders. Lead and motivate the team(s) to ensure safety, quality, and output of the functions, in line with the business strategy, management expectations, relevant legislation, and regulations. Develop and instill a culture of continuous improvement whilst monitoring performance, development, training, and succession planning.

What you will be doing:
  1. Working closely with the Operations team to develop business investment plans.
  2. Ensuring safety, enforcing health and safety regulations, conducting regular inspections, and addressing safety concerns.
  3. Project Management & Planning of construction, site upgrades, and new asset installation projects.
  4. Site Supervision including contractor management.
  5. Liaising with landlords, contractors' architects, and other stakeholders.
  6. Implementing quality control measures and conducting inspections to ensure work meets standards.
  7. Managing site reports, maintaining records, and project documentation.

As Site Development Manager (MEP), your responsibilities will include:

  1. Defining and executing the site investment roadmap.
  2. Acquiring capital expenditure approvals & delivering approved capex in line with strategy, scope, schedule, and budget.
  3. Managing contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
  4. Overseeing testing, commissioning, and handover of completed projects to operations, maintenance, and facilities.
  5. Ensuring projects comply with Environmental, Health & Safety policies, procedures, and legal requirements including RAMs and CDM.
  6. Managing project security and staying current with safety regulations and industry best practices.
  7. Managing project documentation, including risk management plans and reporting.
