Job Role: Waste Assessment and Processing Technician

The role involves assessing hazardous wastes upon arrival at the site, both individually and as part of a team. Responsibilities include managing site budget and expenditure through cost-effective routing of wastes, ensuring compliance with site regulations, and maintaining strict health and safety standards. The ideal candidate must be self-driven, confident, and solutions-oriented.

Your core responsibilities
  1. Receiving chemical waste from industrial and commercial sites.
  2. Ensuring all paperwork for incoming waste is compliant and correctly completed.
  3. Performing immediate testing of incoming waste to verify conformity with paperwork and acceptance criteria.
  4. Conducting further laboratory tests as needed, including flash point testing, pH testing, visual inspections, odour assessments, and viscosity measurements.
  5. Collaborating with site operatives to process, store, and transfer waste safely, compliantly, and efficiently.
  6. Controlling material flows and maintaining container stocks to prevent delays and backlogs.
  7. Bulking and re-packing waste to maximize profitability.
  8. Minimum qualification: HND in Chemistry or a similar qualification with significant chemistry content.
  9. Industrial experience in the chemical or waste industry is preferred.
  10. Applications from chemistry graduates are welcome for junior roles.
