Title: Shift / Site Chemist

Location: Merseyside

Salary: £27,674 per annum

Term: Permanent

Hours: 40 hours a week (Monday-Friday) with rotating shift patterns (6:00-15:00 & 11:00-20:00) rotating weekly

Overview

SRG is working with a leading waste management and recycling company to support the UK chemical industry. They invest heavily in training and development and are looking for a Site Chemist to join the team. This role suits motivated chemistry graduates looking to take their first step into industrial chemistry.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee and organise the acceptance, inspection and routing of incoming waste loads to maintain high operational standards.
  • Conduct technical assessments and analytical testing to support site management and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure all operations align with company procedures and standards (BMS, ISO 9001, 14001, OHSAS 18001).
  • Identify and report non-conformances or issues with incoming loads following established protocols.
  • Generate and manage paperwork for load dispatch, stock control and production records in line with legal and company requirements.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support continuous improvement and effective site operations.
  • Maintain a strong focus on health and safety, attending required training and reporting risks or incidents as needed.
Qualifications
  • Minimum HNC in chemistry.
  • Recently graduated OR have recent industrial experience in the waste industry.
  • Must have a UK driver’s licence and own means of transport.
  • Full right to work in the UK and does not require sponsorship.
  • Willing and able to work outdoors in all weathers – this is a hands‑on role in the waste industry.
