Job summary

Castle Park School in Cumbria invites applications for a Site Assistant. The role is 15-18 hours per week, permanent, part-time, with immediate start, deployed on-site at Castle Park School and potentially across CET Southern cluster.

You will perform caretaking and handyman duties, basic maintenance, security checks, set up seating and move equipment, and support school operations while ensuring health, safety and safeguarding standards.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Carry out minor maintenance tasks and assist in upkeep of classrooms.
  • Clear litter daily from exterior areas and manage external bins.
  • Set up and clear seating in the main hall and other areas.
  • Move resources around the school and assist with equipment handling.
  • Support security duties including lock-up and alarm responses.

About this Role
  • Hours of work: 15-18 per week
  • Deployed at Castle Park school but may be required as operationally necessary to provide support across the Southern cluster of CET schools.

Castle Park School is a school very much at the heart of the local community it serves. It has a long and proud tradition of educating and inspiring the children. The trustees are seeking to employ a Site Assistant. Specific activities to be delegated by Site Operations Manager depending on the needs of the school and to include general caretaking duties, “handyman-type” duties and security including securing of school buildings and premises.

The range of duties can be illustrated by the following non-exhaustive list:
  • To carry out minor maintenance work, e.g. replacing handles, light bulbs/tubes, repairing desks etc. and to assist in other maintenance work, e.g. some painting of classrooms etc.
  • Site Assistant duties which includes:
    • To clear litter daily from exterior of building and empty external bins.
    • To set up and clear seating arrangements in main hall and other areas as required.
    • To set out seating, desks etc. and move other equipment in support of the effective operation of the School and Centre.
    • Movement of resources around the school to meet demand, including the use of the school minibus or equivalent to aid this.
  • Security duties:
    • To be responsible for the safe and efficient lock-up of the school when necessary and to carry out all associated security duties including responding to security alarms call outs.
The Successful candidate will:
  • Awareness of Health & Hygiene procedures
  • Willingness to attend and participate in training
  • Able to identify own training needs and co-operate with means to address these
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to relate well to children
