Job summary

City of Norwich School - An Ormiston Academy (CNS) seeks a proactive Site Assistant to maintain safety, cleanliness, and functionality of our school premises, with a focus on grounds maintenance and outdoor spaces.

The role is 32 hours per week all year round, with flexible hours to match workload, and may involve longer finishes during holidays or events. You will work with the Premises Manager to keep the site secure, compliant, and well‑presented.

Responsibilities

  • Provide caretaking services to facilitate the effective teaching and learning of students and the full use of the Academy by staff and students
  • Provide caretaking services to prevent any health risk from occurring in the Academy
  • Help maintain the fabric of the Academy’s buildings and site
  • Carry out general repairs and maintenance
  • Have key holder responsibilities including opening or closing the site and alarm call out response
  • Make sure the classrooms and teaching areas are prepared for the students and teachers

We are looking for a proactive and dedicated Site Assistant who will play a vital role in maintaining the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of our school premises with a focus on grounds maintenance.

You will work closely with the Premises Manager and other staff members to ensure the smooth operation of the school site on a day-to-day basis, to ensure our site is clean, fit for purpose, secure and compliant with legislation and industry best practice. The focus of the role is on maintaining our beautiful and extensive outside spaces, including state of the art tennis courts, football and rugby pitches and the cricket field.

The role is offered based on working 32 hours per week, all year round. Working hours will be flexible depending on workload. There may be later finishes during school holiday periods and to accommodate school events during term time and on some weekends.

In this role you will:
