Job description

The Role

We are looking for an individual to join our team on a major UK construction project as a site-based Project Site Agent starting at the Havant Thicket Reservoir Project, Hampshire reporting directly to the Project Manager and Contract Manager. Working in a team, the successful candidate will support the management and delivery of the Havant Thicket Reservoir Project.

You will be working within a flexible organisation where self-motivated and practical problem solvers will thrive. We will help you develop your knowledge and experience further, by providing plenty of exposure to a variety of matters in a supportive working environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Ensuring company procedures and systems on quality, health & safety and the environment are implemented and complied with on site.
  2. Preparing quality, environmental and H&S construction plans in a timely manner.
  3. Planning, measuring, monitoring and reviewing the progress of contracts throughout the project’s lifespan and ensuring compliance with project’s budgets and programme.
  4. Interpreting engineering drawings and specifications and ensuring the accurate construction of the works in accordance with client requirements.
  5. Ensuring the timely procurement and payment of suppliers and subcontractors in accordance with company procedures and monitoring their performance including financial throughout the project.
  6. Preparing and submitting weekly reports on progress for review by the Project Manager or Contract Manager for inclusion in the project’s financial CVRs and forecasts to completion.
  7. Identifying potential problem areas, and financial impact, in sufficient time to ensure adequate provisions have been made within forecast accounts.
  8. Providing sufficient and accurate information to the Works Management and Foremen to ensure timely construction of the works.
  9. Liaising with the site manager and foreman as to what engineering is needed onsite and holding daily engineering briefings with the onsite engineers.
  10. Actively resolve contractual issues with both clients and suppliers while also maintaining a good relationship.
  11. Mentoring and guidance for junior members of your team and operatives to fully develop their construction competencies.
  12. Ensuring timely submission of the necessary documentation for inclusion within the project health and safety file.

What we are looking for:

  1. Degree or HND in Civil Engineering
  2. Demonstrable experience of working as a Site Agent within the civil engineering construction industry preferably on large earthworks projects.
  3. Experience in Design & Build Contracts
  4. Understanding and experience in NEC4 Contracts
  5. Strong computer literacy and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  6. Good commercial awareness with effective influencing and negotiating skills, as well as an aptitude to develop emerging and new client relationships.
  7. Experience of managing and mentoring engineers.
  8. Excellent knowledge of current civil engineering legislation as well as Health & Safety and Environmental legislation.
  9. Highly developed professional communication and negotiation skills, including writing and presentation of reports, preparing business management documents, and presenting information in meetings with clients and other parties.
  10. The ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  11. The ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in both mathematical or diagrammatic form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  12. Demonstrable ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines supported by strong organisational skills.
  13. Excellent communicator, both written and oral, with the ability to adapt communication style to suit different circumstances.
  14. Full UK Driving Licence is also required.

More generally, you will need to be committed, reliable, flexible both in terms of UK travel (and staying away overnight where required) and range of tasks performed and possess a good team-working ethic.
