Job summary

Carrington West is seeking an experienced Freelance Site Agent / Site Engineer to oversee marine civil works on a long-term project in Newhaven, East Sussex. This freelance role offers a 6-month rolling contract with a daily rate of £400 ( CIS ).

You will manage site operations, coordinate subcontractors and labour, and ensure safety, quality, and programme compliance. A valid CSCS card is essential; SMSTS and First Aid are desirable.

Qualifications

• Proven track record as Site Agent or Site Engineer in civil engineering.
• Experience in marine, coastal, waterfront or heavy infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of health, safety, quality and environmental standards.
• Valid CSCS card is essential.
• SMSTS is preferred.
• First Aid at Work is desirable.
• Full UK driving licence is required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day delivery of marine and civil engineering works on site.
• Coordinate subcontractors, direct labour and plant to ensure project delivery.
• Ensure works are carried out safely and in accordance with project specs and legislation.
• Monitor programme progress and resolve site issues proactively.
• Liaise with Project Manager, client representatives and stakeholders.
• Maintain site records including diaries, progress reports and QA documentation.
• Ensure QA procedures are followed and completed.
• Assist with planning, method statements, risk assessments and permits as required.
• Support commercial and project teams with site information and progress updates.

• Ability to manage multiple workstreams and maintain programme targets.
• Valid CSCS Card (essential).
• SMSTS (preferred).
