Job summary

RTL Group Ltd in Newcastle upon Tyne is recruiting a Site Agent to lead a major highways project in the heart of the city. You will oversee a team of Sub Agents, Setting Out Engineers and Trainee Engineers to ensure safe, on-time delivery and strict adherence to quality standards.

The ideal candidate has extensive civil engineering experience in highways/road construction, drainage and earthworks, with a good grasp of NEC contracts and highway works specifications.

Qualifications

• Civil Engineering background with highways/structures experience.
• Experience in drainage and earthworks.
• CSCS and SMSTS qualifications are essential.
• Knowledge of NEC contracts and highway works specifications.
• Ability to plan and organise works safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the project on time, to budget and to quality standards.
• Manage, supervise and mentor Sub Agents, Setting Out Engineers and Trainee Engineers.
• Ensure compliance with Integrated Management System procedures and SHEQ standards.
• Promote and lead the site safety culture, ensuring works are carried out safely and in accordance with regulations.

Job description

We are currently looking to recruit a Site Agent to work for one of our leading main contractor clients over on a long term highways project in the heart of Newcastle!

The project consists of the construction a highway and new structures. This is an ideal opportunity for a candidate with highways, structures, earthworks and drainage industry experience.

Role Responsibility

Reporting directly to the Project Manager, the Site Agent will manage, supervise and mentor their Team of Sub Agents, Setting Out Engineers, Trainee Engineers to ensure high levels of engineering control, efficient productivity and appropriate records.

• Ensure the delivery of the Project on time, to budget and to the standard of quality required
• Comply and implement the companies Integrated Management System procedures and guidance and promote its implementation with the Project Team
• Familiarise themselves with all Contract Documentation and Drawings including Company Management Plans to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of the Project.
• Promote and lead the site safety culture, ensuring that all works are carried out in a planned, controlled and safe manner, in accordance with statutory regulations, current standards, and the Company SHEQ standards

The Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role the ideal candidate will have an extensive Civil Engineering background with experience of Highways/Road Construction projects. They will also have had exposure to Drainage and Earthworks within their previous roles.

Education/Certification Requirements:

• Preferably a further education qualification e.g. Degree or HND/HNC (ideally relatable to Civil Engineering) or equivalent qualifications
