Job summary

CSS Recruitment are seeking a Site Agent to lead local projects around Basingstoke, Hampshire. You will manage site operations, coordinate teams and subcontractors while maintaining safety, quality and programme delivery on heavy civil schemes.

The role requires Tier 1 main contractor experience, a civil engineering qualification, CSCS and SMSTS, with strong leadership and problem-solving skills. Travel across Hampshire, Berkshire and Surrey may be required.

Qualifications

• Tier 1 main contractor experience on heavy civil schemes including Highways and Structures.
• Proven experience in a Site Agent or similar role within civil engineering.
• Valid CSCS card and SMSTS qualification.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, health and safety and quality assurance.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily site operations, coordinating site teams, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Plan and monitor project programmes, resources, costs and progress.
• Oversee construction activities, including earthworks, drainage, highways and structures.
• Liaise with clients, engineers, commercial teams and other stakeholders.
• Identify and resolve technical issues, delays and site constraints.
• Maintain accurate site records and provide regular progress reports.

The Role

• Must have tier 1 main contractor experience on heavy civil schemes including Highways and Structures.
• Manage daily site operations, coordinating site teams, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, environmental requirements and quality standards.
• Plan and monitor project programmes, resources, costs and progress.
• Oversee construction activities, including earthworks, drainage, highways and structures.
• Manage risk assessments, method statements, site inspections and quality documentation.
• Liaise with clients, engineers, commercial teams and other stakeholders.
• Identify and resolve technical issues, delays and site constraints.
• Maintain accurate site records and provide regular progress reports.

Requirements

• Must have tier 1 main contractor experience on heavy civil schemes including Highways and Structures.
• Proven experience in a Site Agent or similar role within civil engineering.
• Relevant civil engineering qualification or equivalent experience.
• Valid CSCS card and SMSTS qualification.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, health and safety and quality assurance.
• Experience managing subcontractors, programmes and site resources.
• Excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
