A prominent healthcare provider seeks a permanent Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse for the Surgical Preassessment in Leeds. The role includes managing a team and working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues to provide high-quality care. Job summary: A permanent Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse role in the Surgical Preassessment, Elective Orthopaedic team at Chapel Allerton Hospital. Opportunity to develop management and leadership skills within a supportive multidisciplinary environment.
Preassessment is managed by Band 7s on C03; the successful candidate will work closely with C03. Ward C03 includes a pre-admission area, a 16-bed post-operative area, a 4-bed Enhanced Care Unit and a 26-bed rehabilitation ward. We provide planned spinal and orthopaedic surgery for patients requiring hip replacement, knee replacement, soft tissue knee reconstruction, shoulder and foot surgery.
The successful applicant will work alongside Band 7s to lead and manage a team of approximately eight staff to ensure the smooth and proficient delivery of services to patients. This is an opportunity to work with a highly specialist multidisciplinary team, and to gain experience in Elective Orthopaedic and Spinal Surgery, while delivering high quality, patient-centred care.

Experience — Essential: Significant post-registration experience at staff nurse level or equivalent; experience working with a wide range of professionals including medical, nursing and management colleagues; audit and standard setting.
Desirable: Change management/improvement projects; clinical experience within the specialty.
Additional Requirements — Essential: Able to fulfil Occupational Health requirements for the post.
Qualifications — Essential: Registered Nurse (RN Adult for adult clinical areas or RN Child for children’s areas, Level 1 or 2); evidence of continued professional development. Desirable: understanding of training needs in relation to the post; recognising teaching/assessing qualification.
