Main duties of the job

To take an advanced role in the activities within the Radiology departments, in specialized areas as required, maintaining a high standard of care at all times. You will be expected to work autonomously, organize the running of clinics, as well as scrub duties and recovery.

To assist in booking patient lists and pre-admission assessment of patients. To deputize for the Sister when required and to supervise junior staff.

To communicate effectively with internal and external agencies. To undertake Continuing Professional Development.

To adhere to Trust and Departmental policies and procedures.

Job responsibilities

Specific Responsibilities

  • Carry out duties within a specialized environment as required.
  • Assist with patient selection, organization of admission, care, discharge, or transfer of patients.
  • Ensure patients are treated with consideration and care appropriate to their condition, using clinical judgment regarding techniques and equipment.
  • Assist in maintaining custody of controlled drugs, including ordering, checking, administering, and ensuring their safe handling.
  • Liaise with staff to ensure smooth Radiology services.
  • Comply with relevant health and safety and radiation protection regulations.
  • Participate in out-of-hours services.
  • Maintain professional standards at all times.

Managerial responsibilities

  • Deputize for the Sister as required, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Participate in developing protocols and procedures.
  • Contribute to clinical audits and maintain accurate patient records.
  • Manage time effectively and consider resource availability.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety, data protection, and organizational policies.
