Job Description

Sister/Charge Nurse - Adult/Paediatric Plastic Outpatients
London: The Portland Hospital for Women and Children (based at 84 Harley Street)
Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday)
Salary: Competitive + Benefits (pension, health cover, flexible benefits and excellent career development)

We're looking for a Sister/Charge Nurse to join our Adult/Paediatric Plastic Surgery Outpatient Department at 84 Harley Street - one of The Portland Hospital's specialist satellite sites. This modern outpatient centre is dedicated to providing expert-led care in plastic and reconstructive surgery for both adult and paediatric patients. The clinic supports a wide range of procedures including minor surgical interventions under local anaesthetic, wound care, paediatric circumcisions, tongue-tie divisions, and laser treatments.

As part of The Portland Hospital - currently rated "Good" by the CQC - this role offers the opportunity to work in a specialised setting, with a patient population that spans from newborns to adults. As the Sister, you will be working alongside the Clinical Nurse Specialist to lead a busy outpatient environment, ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of our nurse-led dressing clinic and minor procedure lists. You'll support patients under the care of up to eight specialist consultants, providing expert wound management and post-operative care, while working closely with the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver safe and seamless care pathways.

What you'll bring:

  • NMC registered nurse (Dual registered or Adult registered with Paediatric experience)
  • Previous experience and keen interest in wound care (surgical and non-surgical)
  • Previous experience in a plastic surgery setting, either as an inpatient nurse or outpatient clinic environment and/or theatre work (desirable)
  • Ability to work autonomously and recognise early signs of clinical concern
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with patients, families, and colleagues
