Sister/Charge Nurse (Ophthalmology - PCEU Windsor)
**This is a fixed-term/secondment opportunity for 12 months to cover maternity leave.**
This post is based at Prince Charles Eye Unit, King Edward VII Hospital, St Leonards Road, Windsor, SL4 3DP - and attracts a Fringe payment of 5% of gross basic salary.
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Prince Charles Eye Unit for a senior nurse who is highly motivated to join the team as Sister/Charge Nurse, with a specific focus within our Eye Casualty service.
This post will be responsible for leading the team on a daily basis. Applicants will need to be open to new ways of working to support us to deliver our vision for high volume emergency eye care.
You must possess and be able to demonstrate excellent leadership and management skills.
We are seeking to appoint a compassionate and caring nurse who will be able to work closely with the Senior Team to deliver outstanding care.
The successful candidate will be part of a large and supportive team, working with the different ophthalmology sub-specialties.
The post holder will be actively involved in the care of patients.
The overall purpose of the Sister/Charge Nurse is to provide clinical and managerial leadership to the nursing and multidisciplinary team. This includes acting as a clinical leader and an expert practitioner liaising, guiding and advising the multidisciplinary team to ensure optimum patient care through the ophthalmology clinical pathways.
Work autonomously, but within professional boundaries, to accurately examine, assess and diagnose patients with an undifferentiated diagnosis, from a physiological, psychological and social perspective, and plan clinical care accordingly within Eye Casualty.
The post holder will also be expected to play a proactive role in quality and service improvement and working closely with the Directorate and multidisciplinary team, assisting in the auditing of clinical standards of care within their clinical area. This includes ensuring a good working environment in which all patients receive a high standard of care.
Work in close liaison with the ophthalmic teams / medical along with multidisciplinary teams within the Trust to ensure smooth management of patient care whilst delivering high quality evidence-based care.
Our dedicated ophthalmology team works within Prince Charles Eye Unit at King Edward VII Hospital (Windsor).
