Sister/Charge Nurse – Haematology Directorate, Guy’s Hospital
Guy’s Hospital’s Haematology Directorate is undergoing a significant service expansion and invites applications for multiple full-time Sister/Charge Nurse positions. These roles include permanent posts as well as fixed-term contracts to cover maternity leave. Secondment opportunities may also be considered.
Clinical Areas:
• Olive and Hazel Ward(3rd Floor, Bermondsey Wing)
A 26-bed inpatient unit comprising 9 beds across 3 bays and 17 isolation rooms, including 3 Radio-Nuclide rooms.
• Hawthorn Ward(4th Floor, Bermondsey Wing)
A 15-bed ward with 12 beds arranged in 4 bays and 3 isolation rooms.
• Young Adult Unit(4th Floor, Bermondsey Wing)
A hybrid outpatient and inpatient service with 5 inpatient isolation rooms and 7 treatment chairs.
We offer expert care for patients with malignant haematological conditions such as leukaemia, lymphoma, and myeloma, as well as non-malignant disorders including sickle cell disease, thalassaemia, haemophilia, and immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). Additionally, it supports patients with solid tumour cancers receiving systemic anti-cancer therapies and palliative care. Advanced treatments provided include biologics, Bi-specific T-Cell Engagers, and Immune Effector Cell Therapies, administered either as part of NHS Standard of Care or through Early Phase clinical trials.

We are seeking experienced Sister/Charge Nurses to provide clinical and operational leadership across these specialist services. The successful candidates will demonstrate autonomy, resilience, and the ability to thrive under pressure within a dynamic environment. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential, alongside the ability to prioritise and coordinate multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, person-centred care.
Working closely with the Matron and Senior Leadership, you will:
• Lead and develop nursing and multidisciplinary teams to achieve clinical excellence.
• Ensure compliance with governance, safety, and quality standards, including ward accreditation.
• Drive staff development, education, and performance management along with the Practice Development Nursing Team.
• Support and contribute to service development, audit, research, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage resources effectively, including financial oversight within the ward/unit.
