Fixed term contract/secondment opportunity for 2 years

Job Overview

This is an opportunity to lead an exciting and innovative department alongside the current Senior Sister. You will oversee clinical areas, lead and manage the team, and promote a safe environment for patients.

Departments
  1. Coronary Care: An 8-bedded unit located next to the Cath Labs, serving as the hub of the PPCI service. It provides care for acute and chronic conditions, including circulatory support via IABP, temporary pacing, and CPAP for pulmonary oedema.
  2. Kilverstone Ward: A 37-bed ward caring for a range of cardiac conditions, both acute and chronic.
Application Considerations

If applying on a secondment basis, discuss with your Line Manager beforehand to confirm support.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure clinical standards across both areas, requiring significant clinical experience in Cardiology.
  • Promote safe care, support adherence to Trust Standards, and maintain safe staffing levels.
  • Participate in recruitment, retention, and budget oversight.
  • Collaborate with the Cardiology Department and wider multidisciplinary team.
  • This role is a job share; flexibility, excellent communication, and organization skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical and managerial leadership to nursing and clerical staff.
  • Support staff development and performance management.
  • Manage budgets within guidelines.
  • Implement policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Work closely with the team and promote good working relationships.
  • Monitor staff performance, sickness, and mandatory training compliance.
  • Address performance issues per Trust procedures.
  • Contribute to policy development and act as a professional ambassador.
