Job summary

A rare opportunity has arisen for highly motivated registered nurses with a broad range of clinical experience to join the Cardiac Catheter Suite Team at Sheffield Teaching Hospital. The Cardiac Catheter Suite provides specialised regional Cardiac service to the whole of the South Yorkshire region.

This is an important role in which the successful candidates will provide support to the senior nursing team and the unit.

Applicants will have extensive experience within the Cardiac Catheter Suite and must have completed the Cardiology competency package, or equivalent and have proven Leadership skills and be able to work autonomously as well as in a team. The applicant must possess excellent organisational & communication skills, be flexible, approachable, hard-working and have the ability to work well under pressure.

Main duties of the job
  • To develop and provide specialised programmes of nursing care to a diverse range of patients and support to carers within the clinical environment.
  • To lead a team of qualified, support and student team members.
  • To take charge of the department regularly.
  • Support the Senior Charge Nurse in ensuring the highest standard and quality of nursing care is delivered.
  • To take part in the cath lab on call rota for out of hours emergency work

Person Specification
Skills and Knowledge
  • Evidence of relevant post basic training and continuous professional development.
  • Ability to communicate effectively including active listening, writing, and verbally, with individuals on a one-to-one basis, with groups, and the Multidisciplinary Team.
Experience
  • Extensive experience in the Cardiac Catheter Suite
  • Evidence of management experience
  • Successful completion of clinical and management training in the cardiology setting.
  • Ability to lead, motivate and develop a professional team
  • An understanding of patient flow in a busy acute area
  • Venepuncture/Cannulation Training (or willing to undertake)
Education and Qualifications
  • NMC Registered
  • To have completed the national practice assessor training or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.
  • Completion of Cardiology competency pack or equivalent
  • First degree or evidence of working towards one (demonstrating graduate attributes).
  • Non-Medical Prescribing or willing to undertake.
  • Intermediate Life Support (ILS)
  • Advanced Life Support or willing to complete
