Main duties of the job
We are offering a secondment opportunity for an oncology sister/charge nurse who wishes to build on their existing experience, management and clinical skills on the Paediatric Oncology Ward (Piam Brown Unit) at Southampton Children’s Hospital.
We are looking for someone who has excellent leadership skills and is prepared to support the day to day running of the ward, ensuring high standards of care appropriate to the child/young person are maintained.
Piam Brown Unit is the Principle Treatment Centre for Paediatric Oncology in the South of England.
The unit has 12 inpatient beds and a day unit within the Children’s Hospital. We care for patients from 0-16.
The day unit operates 8-6 Mon-Fri and works closely with the in-patient ward to ensure smooth patient movement through the unit.
We work very closely with our colleagues across the region.
The unit is a MASCC-Designated centre of excellence in Supportive Care in Cancer, one of only 2 centres in the UK.
