Job summary

Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a SACT-trained registered nurse for the Pembroke Suite. You will lead the infusion day unit, mentor junior staff, and work with oncology/haematology teams to deliver high-quality patient care.

The role focuses on leadership, governance, and developing the unit alongside senior colleagues, ensuring safe, effective delivery of systemic anti-cancer treatment.

Qualifications

  • Leadership and experience in managing a team.
  • Advanced communication skills within a clinical setting.

  • Experience with central venous access and chemotherapy governance is desirable.

Job overview

Pembroke Suite is the SACT infusion day unit. We are looking for a SACT trained registered nurse who has experience of working with oncology/haematology patients and wants to develop their leadership skills. It is an exciting time to join Pembroke unit as we are growing our team, initiating an education package and looking to develop our staff.

You will work together with the oncology and haematology team to deliver an outstanding patient focused service for patients having all aspects of systemic anti-cancer treatment.

Main duties of the job

You will demonstrate good organizational skills, ability to take charge and lead the team with support of the senior leadership team. You will be expected to assess and develop junior staff through mentoring, learning and appraisals. You will be mindful of standards at all times and if you have concerns you will know how to manage them or to raise them to the senior team.

You will be working closely with the other unit leaders to manage the unit. In this position you will communicate effectively, listen to staff and ensure their views are heard. You will support your senior sister by making decisions and plans for the development of the suite and be able to present a united, cohesive voice as a senior member of the team.

You will be part of the senior team overseeing the daily running and management of the SACT day unit. This includes liaising with the pharmacy, scheduling, CNS & consultant teams to ensure patients receive high quality care.
